Been saying "We'll see you at Christmas" a lot this weekend. Been getting rid of a lot of stuff this weekend. Feels like we're movin'. Been a while since I've been in this place. I mean, that place of just about to move for good. 4.5 years. In fact.

But, well, here we go.

Rob:

Nobody has "got" Rob yet (if you have and I don't know about it email me, because something got messed up with my system's config...I should know when someone finds Rob). Yes, that was the final installment. I kinda know who reads this site, and I always took you all for sharper and more inquisitive. Or maybe you've just been busy the last two days and haven't made it around here (btw, I started only keeping three days up on the home page to try and keep you coming back more often, tricky me). Either way, I'll maybe start dropping more hints in a few days. Let's just say he's out there.

Email:

Speaking of email, I added two emails today. You'll notice that the email above was to info@danielsjourney.com. That's one of them, so far only on my resume. The contact link on each of my pages has changed to spam at danielsjourney dot com. I'm trying to avoid the spam bots. If you have my original very intuitive email address for danielsjourney, that's still the one you, special person, want to use. Other peps gotta use info or spam...

</dc:description><dc:identifier>78081473</dc:identifier><dc:subject/>

<swim:publish>publish</swim:publish>

<dc:title/><dc:description>This is the best bio I've ever seen:

Kung Fu Grippe is a weblog by Merlin Mann.

As has been widely reported in the popular press, Merlin was born to a humble family of midwestern breakdancers who traded him to a klezmer band for a case of motor oil when they realized what a whiner he was becoming. Merlin quickly escaped the combo by disguising himself as a copy of "Field & Stream" magazine that had been left in a chiropractor's office. His subsequent hardscrabble existence on the mean streets of suburban Cincinnati led one harried case worker to report, "His self-esteem far outstrips any basis in reality, although his skill at the daily 'Jumble' is quite remarkable."

Merlin's affinity for dice games, starchy foods, and blood sport landed him in a medium-security penitentiary for the better part of the late 1970s, which was just as well since he didn't personally own any fondue forks or earth shoes. Upon his parole, a now heavily-tattooed Merlin attended liberal arts college on a fraudulent one-armed pushup scholarship. His studies, such as they were, concentrated in spastic argument, shoddy inference, and obviously, overwriting.

Kung Fu Grippe was begun by Merlin when he was advised by his internist to become much more self-absorbed and presumptuous. Ever the sheep, Merlin got to work churning out his undistinguished blend of obvious remarks and tiresome links. Disgusted readers everywhere, though, agree that his half-baked opinions are the most appalling feature of the site. A researcher in Munich reports that in 76% of the instances he observed, Merlin had not even bothered to finish reading his own posts, let alone those of the innocents he so broadly castigates. And therein lies the real appeal.

Through a series of inexplicable good fortunes, Merlin has never had his ass properly kicked. He can eat his weight in cinnamon, breeds a violent race of super-intelligent snails, and shuns the use of smoke detectors and antibiotics. He lives in an ocean-side community in northern California where he churns butter in a historically-inaccurate production of "Oedipus, the King."

If you are mean to him, he will cry like an infant with the colic, but if you offer him some gum, he'll follow you home, provided he's allowed unlimited access to a clean restroom. He's very touched that you've read this far.

</dc:description><dc:identifier>78044498</dc:identifier><dc:subject/>

<swim:publish>publish</swim:publish>

<dc:title/><dc:description>

The final (green) straw:

Saw "I Am Sam" last night. A movie that could have made it into my top 10, maybe even top 5, but a film ruined by the disgustingly blatent product placement. The whole thing starts with at least 10 individual images of the Starbucks logo and it sure doesn't stop there. Otherwise a really good movie; too bad the first 2/3rds was like a huge Starbucks advert. Once Penn's character quit Starbucks the movie really improved. Even had one of those emotionally cathartic moments of crying uncontrollably (thanks to Michelle's character, actually).

</dc:description><dc:identifier>78022683</dc:identifier><dc:subject/>

<swim:publish>publish</swim:publish>

<dc:title/><dc:description>We, the publishers of the Rob series, must apologize. One of the disadvantages of this direct publishing technology, SuperBlog++tm, is that it has given our editors very little time to correctly and completely assemble the mass of information we received through Tim Sutton's estate. We did, however, do our best, and we considered the risk and relative inconvenience to you far outweighed by the advantage of being able to present this information in as quick a manner as possible. However, we could not foresee the fact that Mr. Sutton's account was in fact cut short, and we are as shocked as you are at the sudden conclusion of his narrative. As more we receive further information from his estate we will most certainly pass it on to you in the shortest amount of time possible. In the meantime, we have received this update on one of the previous posts:

Even the casting call was like a maze. First, it wasn't publicized in the normal trade papers, websites, or NewsWirelesstm service. I found out about it, finally, through this ad.

</dc:description><dc:identifier>78001954</dc:identifier><dc:subject/>

<swim:publish>publish</swim:publish>

<dc:title/><dc:description>Miriam posted some today.

</dc:description><dc:identifier>78001706</dc:identifier><dc:subject/>

<swim:publish>publish</swim:publish>

<dc:title/><dc:description>
June 11, 2002
Cade Matthew Tjomsland
9 lb, 13 oz and 21 inches long

yes, I am an uncle.

congrats and prayers for my sis Jan and bro-in-law Dale...

</dc:description><dc:identifier>78001658</dc:identifier><dc:subject/>

<swim:publish>publish</swim:publish>

<dc:title/><dc:description>I hate Netscape:

If anyone can tell me why this site doesn't look right in Netscape, let me know. The fact that my CSS doesn't color your background doesn't bother me as much as the fact that my "etc." cell falls off the bottom of the window somehow. Whatsupwiththat? Some things I knew about, like no "hand" when you hover over the options on the customize page (which you don't know about because the etc. cell is off the bottom), but then what's up with the way it colors the cell when you do hover over the options? I don't think that anyone who knows her at all well could say they wouldn't agree with me, either. She speaks 5 languages! She's actually from another country. She walked around communist Czechoslovakia as a child going, "I'm going to live in America someday." (Making those around her pretty nervous!) Well, here she is; and she's about to work for America.

She's the most organized person I know. Yeah.

She's got a degree in finance. She got, like, a 4.5 gpa. She's a genius with money. She got he college paid for, then took the extra money she saved by careful living and invested it while interning at a brokerage. She turned that over a few hundred percent and it became the down payment for our house. She paid extra into the house the whole time we lived there, so that when we sold it last fall we got a nice little check. She keeps the coolest excel spreadsheet of every single income and expense so that we can see exactly where we can save, and what things set us back. It has all these calculations so we can see the bottom line every month, year, or even our whole marriage (4+ years now!).

Economic department?
